Ok, so it's getting down to the wire and you still haven't found the right gift for your father, or your husband. Feeling a little tied up in knots with all those ties, wallets, money clips and gadgets that are thrown at you across the internet...not to mention the super expensive ones over at Red Envelope?
The economy may be suffering, but your gift ideas don't need to be. Here is a simple gift that is not only unique and thoughtful, but provides lasting memories every father will cherish:
A MODERN COLLAGE for his office or den:
Framed artwork featuring none other than your child's hand prints or footprints:
This is a fun project that kids love to make. First you'll need a large piece of paper and for planning purposes make sure it's the same size as the poster frame. You'll also need paints. Tempera or jarred acrylics work best. Choose any colors you like and have the child place(or you dip your baby's) hands or feet into the paint, one color at a time and press in a random pattern all over the paper. Be sure to wash between colors.
There are so many different design approaches you can take. You can place the handprints in a grid, line them up in rows or scatter them about. You can outline the prints with crayons or sharpie markers or leave them plain. Or fill in around the handprints with further color and get very creative. Don't be afraid if the lines are blurry or things get a little messy. That's what life is all about!
A convergence of creative, crafty, random thoughts and things. Mostly handmade, always inspiring. If you are artsy, you've found your planet. Who knows where it will spin?

Father's Day Gifts From the Heart
Father's Day often presents a bit of a quandary to the gift giver. How do you truly honor this man...with a tie? aftershave? automotive accessories? These all seem to fall short of symoblizing the true feeling behind paying homage to the man who stands behind his family in ways we often don't even see. Striking a special note with a father can be as simple as keying into his psychology. Here are some ideas based on personality traits:
The Pensive or Poetic father:
Books are always a good bet. Best sellers may hit the right chord, but never forget the classics:
Or the latest in reading technology. The Kindle offers virtually every title on the market at a fraction of the price.
For The Urban Dad who might enjoy a simple bit of green now and then:
A really cool photo available here on Etsy in any size or on canvas. A perfect glimpse of green for the city man:
Or how about a rainbarrel, one of the hottest new trends in greening up your home:
For the Outdoor Adventurer Dad:
A kayak or kayaking trip:
For the Sentimental Dad:
A selection of frames to feature the images in his heart.
Remember... the best gifts come from the heart, but they go to the heart as well. So think about what touches his and voila! You'll have the best Father's Day Gift idea of all.
